If you’re on the hunt for authentic Cantonese cuisine in Huntsville, look no further than Ding How II, nestled conveniently at 4800 Whitesburg Dr. This local gem is not just a restaurant; it’s a vibrant hub for lovers of traditional Chinese fare, particularly known for its delightful dim sum offerings.

Upon entering Ding How II, you are greeted by an inviting atmosphere that buzzes with the energy of hungry diners eager to savor the rich flavors that define Chinese culinary art. The decor embraces a classic yet warm aesthetic, making it a perfect setting for family gatherings, casual outings with friends, or even a solo culinary adventure. The ambiance complements the essence of dining out—where enjoying good food with good company becomes a shared experience.

The dim sum here is legendary, often drawing in crowds on the weekends, especially because it’s served only on Saturdays and Sundays. Make sure to arrive early—around 10:45 AM is your best bet—to secure a table before the rush begins. The menu presents a feast for the senses, packed with delectable options like BBQ pork buns that have received rave reviews from patrons like James Bovell, who wholeheartedly recommends them as a must-try. The steamed dumplings, including the crystal shrimp dumplings and har gor, invite you to savor their delicate flavors, while the rich taste of stuffed bean curd can elevate your palate.

For those craving heartier meals, the dinner menu features enticing selections such as Mongolian beef and broccoli beef, both vibrant dishes prepared with skill and care. Diners have praised the tenderness of the beef and the bold flavors that infuse every dish, although some have noted a few inconsistencies regarding portion sizes. Deloria Walker expressed delight in her meal but wished for larger portions to truly satiate her appetite.

Other highlights include the perfectly cooked fried beef chohofun, known for its excellent flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. However, expect a slight hit-or-miss experience with some items like the orange chicken which some customers felt lacked the desired flavor punch. A solid recommendation from the menu is the egg drop soup, a comforting staple that many diners seem to appreciate.

Despite some mixed experiences regarding food temperatures on occasion, many loyal customers return regularly, as highlighted by Bill Koehler who cherishes the consistent quality of dishes and the excellent service. He swears by the cashew chicken and enjoys pairing his meals with exquisite hot tea, reinforcing that the dining experience transcends just great food—it's about the atmosphere and service too.

The team at Ding How II works diligently to ensure your visit is nothing short of exceptional, with friendly staff members ready to assist you in selecting the perfect dish to tantalize your taste buds. So if you're in the Huntsville area, don’t miss your chance to indulge in the vibrant flavors at Ding How II, where every meal is crafted with respect for tradition and an ardent passion for creating memorable dining experiences.

Ding How II is great anytime for traditional Chinese (Cantonese) food but Dim Sum is a must. They only do it on the weekends and the place can get very crowded so be sure to get there around 10:45am as the doors will open at 11 unless you want to wait for a table. My number one Dim Sum recommendation will be the BBQ pork buns. Everything is great but the buns are by far my favorite!

Decent Chinese style food. Reasonable prices for good food overall. The fried beef chohofun was excellent. Great flavor, and beef was very tender. The orange chicken is ok. Flavor was a bit off and the chicken was tough and chewy. Recommed the egg drop soup. On the down side, the salt shaker was disgustingly dirty and greasy.

They offer dim sum on Saturdays and Sundays only... we initially went on a Sunday for Dim Sum, we found everything besides the steamed dumplings came out cold, even the roast duck. We gave it a second chance but on Saturday morning (since I had a theory the food would be nice and warm on the first day of the only 2 days dim sum is available). My theory held true, everything was hot to our liking and the taste was superb, very reminiscent of NYC Chinatown dim sum. The roast pork had crunchy skin, the baked pork buns were flavorful and the beef curry patty was the best I've ever had, the hot tea was perfect. Would go back 1000 more times but on Saturdays only.

I've been dying to come here to try their dim sum. I finally remembered to come on the weekend with the family. I usually try out new places without my family during the week so it was hard for me to remember to come here when they have dim sum. This place was very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Everything we ordered looked great when it came out, however, most of the dishes were cold. I guess it was suspicious how quickly all the dim sum dishes came out. Like the baked pork buns were room temperature cold. The only dishes that were warm were the ones on the steamers like shumai. Even the roast duck was cold. Luckily everything we ordered tasted good. And my favorite egg custard tarts hit the spot. They were also cold, but I'm just happy to have some. The sesame balls were huge, but the filling was lacking. There was a similar but savory dish (I don't remember ordering) that had the smallest amount of filling, but it tasted good but it really left me feeling I needed more filling. They were both came out cold too. I would avoid these next time as well as the ribs. We ordered a couple made to order dishes like fried rice and beef chow fun. I didn't have any fried rice but everyone seemed to like it. I always love chow fun which is a fat rice noodle dish. So I was happy to see this on the menu. The portion seemed very small for a Chinese restaurant which I always think of as family style eating. I almost want to award it as the smallest portions of any Chinese restaurant I've ever been to. I really wanted to love this place, but the cold food and small portions made me hesitant for a 5 star. I still am so thankful there is a place for dim sum and chow fun in the area.

Always Very good food, very good service. One of our go-to places for chinese food in Huntsville. Very good egg rolls and egg drop soup. I prefer hot tea with my meal (or beer) as chinese restaurant sweet (iced) tea has a different flavor. Their hot tea was excellent. I normally get the cashew chicken and my wife typically gets the Mongolian beef. Less dried noodles on hers this time but both very good. We both prefer no onions so she got fresh fried rice without, and it was excellent. Late lunch was still a little busy.
